About the Artist
Laura Lilly Latyn is a Czech–American artist raised between Washington, D.C. and Prague, based in Monaco where the shifting interplay of light and water became central to her visual language. Her work explores the quiet power of natural elements, with a particular focus on water as a site of movement, depth, and fleeting moments.
Working primarily in oils, Latyn has developed her technique through study with artists across multiple continents, synthesizing diverse influences into a refined and distinctive voice. Her paintings are characterized by layered surfaces, cohesive palettes, and an emphasis on atmosphere over representation.
For the past four years, she has contributed to the Colors of Charity Art Auction hosted by the AMAL Foundation, supporting Doctors Without Borders. In the most recent edition, her work achieved the highest sale of the fundraiser.
Latyn continues to build a body of work centered on stillness, light, and permanence, creating original paintings inspired by the Mediterranean.
Past Projects
The Riverview Estate Project
The original waterscape now hangs in the master bedroom of Riverview Estate, a historic Virginia estate currently listed at $50 million, one of the most significant properties in the Washington D.C. area on the market today. Sited directly on the water, the estate's grandeur called for a piece that could hold its own within such storied and elevated surroundings. This placement marks a defining moment, a rare collaboration bringing original work into one of the area's most prestigious private residences, where art and architecture meet on equal footing.
Colors of Charity 2026
For the fourth year, I was honored to contribute an original painting to the annual Colors of Charity auction gala in Prague, hosted by the Amal Foundation in support of Doctors Without Borders at the Manes Gallery. The piece, a study of sunlight scattered across moving water, was auctioned to fund MSF's medical teams working in Yemen, where basic care remains scarce and urgently needed. Every sparkle of light in the painting felt like a small stand-in for the difference that single donation could make.
D.C. Superior Court Nursery
In collaboration with Euro Staging, we led a meaningful charity initiative to transform the nursery room at the DC Superior Court, a space meant to bring a small measure of comfort to mothers navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As part of the project, I created a custom mural for the space, designed to feel warm, gentle, and reassuring rather than institutional. It was a project close to my heart: proof that art can offer comfort even in the most unexpected places.
Colors of Charity 2025
My first year participating in the gala as a professional artist, in line with the theme of Feeling Good, I depicted the F1 race win of Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi 2021 as he won the Driver’s Championship. The piece was purchased by the same collector as the previous year, and was the gala’s highest-selling piece, going for the full offer price. An incredible initiative supporting Doctors Without Borders by the Amal Foundation.
I collaborated with Masterpiece Staging & Design and Euro Staging on their design showcase room for Room Service, a pop-up design event set inside a transformed former Motel 6 in Union Market, D.C. My original artworks were featured throughout their space, adding color and warmth to the room's design story, including live painting during the event, giving guests a chance to watch a piece come to life in real time, right alongside the finished designs around them.

Colors of Charity 2024
For my second year participating in the Colors of Charity art gala by the Amal Fond, I interpreted the theme Imagine through one of my guilty pleasures in painting: cars. Viewing the subject through this lens, I found myself drawn to the adrenaline-charged feeling of moving at impossible speeds. My intention with this piece was simply to embody what the theme invites us to do - imagine.
Colors of Charity 2023
For my first year participating in the Colors of Charity auction, I created the piece 852hz Love Frequency under the gala theme The Sound of Music. Drawing inspiration from the origins of music, I decided to highlight the djembe drum, invented by the Mandinke tribe in what is now Mali. Further inspired by Mali, I incorporated traditional Malian patterns into the fabric of the drummer’s garment. The piece sold before the auction started.
